Last Saturday the Lanka Alzheimers Foundation organized a 4km walk over Galle Road of raise awareness about the disease. The Alzheimers service was asked to sell raffle tickets that would be drawn on the day, there were many different prices ranging from an airplane ticket to New York to Odel vouchers, every price was donated by many different companies. The founders of the Lanka Alzheimers Foundation were present together with about 30 other people attending the walk. It started off at Cinnamon Grand and we walked about 4km over Galle Road and back carrying posters, balloons and handing out leaflets to passers by. The walk took about 1 and a half hours and when we came back there was the raffle draw which we sold tickets for.

Overall this was a pretty succesfull event and I think we raised awareness especially because we handed out leaflets, the only thing we need to do better next year is the publication of the walk. Many people especially in school didn't know about it simply because we didn't mention it or hung up posters, but this will be done better next year. :)
